VISPOL – PW is used in water-based muds to prevent shale and clayey cuts from dispersing and to provide continuity throughout the well. VISPOL – PW prevents drill winding and provides lubricity on the string. It can cause instant viscosity due to its high molecular weight. The polymer is sensitive to calcium contamination and high pH, and the maximum calcium concentration should not exceed 400 ppm and pH 11.
