Thinners and Clay Stabilizers
In formations such as shale and claystone, clay minerals swell when they come into contact with water. These minerals interact with the water in the drilling mud and disrupt the structure of the drilling mud. With the condensation of the drilling mud, the drilling mud pressed into the well may cause an increase in pump pressure and tool jamming in the well. To avoid this problem, it is recommended to use the appropriate chemical that balances the viscosity and gel strength of the circulating drilling mud.
